Professional Background
Dr. Shapiro earned his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Cornell University and received his medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine. He completed his General Surgery internship and Otolaryngology residency at Albany Medical Center, followed by a highly specialized Rhinology fellowship at Shadyside Hospital (University of Pittsburgh system), where he received advanced training in complex sinus and skull base disorders.
He is double board-certified in Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery and Sleep Medicine, and has served as medical director of two accredited sleep laboratories. Dr. Shapiro has also directed two allergy centers, allowing him to integrate comprehensive allergy evaluation and treatment into his sinus practice. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery, the American Rhinologic Society, and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
