Eustachian Tube Dysfunction—often called ETD—happens when the small tubes that connect the middle ear to the back of the nose are not working the way they should. These tubes help equalize pressure in your ears, drain fluid, and keep your ears comfortable. When they don’t open or close properly, everyday activities like swallowing, flying, or even having a cold can suddenly feel uncomfortable or frustrating.
At Miami Breathe Free Sinus and Allergy Centers, our ENT team sees Eustachian Tube Dysfunction in patients of all ages. While ETD is common, it can feel confusing because symptoms often come and go and may overlap with other ear or sinus issues.
